Volunteers to help stuff Christmas Envelopes

Parishioners are requested to help to put cards and other items into the envelopes provided for delivery to Catholic homes in the parish. This exercise is planned to take place at the back of the (bigger section) of the church, beginning on Wednesday, 20th November, immediately after the 10'clock Mass. If there is a funeral, we will wait until the mourners have vacated the church building. It is hoped that tea/coffee may be available. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Fr. Michael O’Connor Adm.

Parish Environmental Group - A world being eaten up. At every Mass, we hear the bread and wine described as “the work of human hands”.  This exemplifies the extraordinary capacity of human beings to take natural materials and transform them into something new.  But there is a dark side. The same human power to mold and shape nature has also created the climate crisis. The model of economic growth based on the unlimited exploitation and consumption of materials is still enormously powerful. So powerful that to overcome it requires what Pope Francis calls an “ecological conversion” to free ourselves from its grip.  We have to change at two levels - in our personal behaviour, but equally through community conversion (Laudato Si, 219).   Each of us must not only develop our own sustainable lifestyle, but we have to ensure our whole society is also sustainable.  Policies, institutions, and practices must change radically - and urgently. Catholics must push for these societal and structural changes. Without them, we will continue the slide into an ecological disaster now eating up the world before our eyes.
