Our Parish seeks to live as a family – supporting one another, open to all comers, building a community where each person feels wanted and cared for. To make this happen, we will work to grow in holiness through prayer and service and we will try to show God’s love in our daily lives.

Funeral Ministry Team Every parish is being encouraged to have a funeral ministry team consisting of religious and lay, men and women, who have been trained in providing support at a time of loss. The team assists in helping to organise a Christian funeral. that the Church has to offer the bereaved. On receiving word of the death of a person, members of the Funeral Ministry Team may visit the bereaved family either on their own or with the priest, deacon, or parish pastoral worker. The purpose of the visit is to sympathise with the family, to bring the peace and hope that the Gospel has to offer and to assure the bereaved family that the parish community is praying for them and their loved ones. They will also bring the Scripture Readings and sample intercessions for the Prayer of the Faithful which will be used during the funeral ceremony. They may discuss the liturgy and help the family to choose the appropriate readings and prayers for the deceased person. The diocese is committed to providing ongoing training to funeral ministry teams both centrally and locally. If interested in joining the Parish Funeral Ministry Team, please contact one of the parish clergy.
