BLESSING OF FOOD AT EASTER

The Blessing of Easter Food Baskets is a tradition rooted in Eastern European Cultures. It involves families bringing a basket with food that have been part of the Lenten Fast. Traditionally the baskets contain, a hardboiled egg (Christ’s Resurrection), Meat (often Lamb) (often representing the Lamb of God), and Bread (often homemade, reminding us that Jesus is the bread of life). Confectionary, also sweets can be added. The basket is traditionally blessed on Holy Saturday Morning at 11 am in our Church and consumed at the beginning of Easter Sunday. This Service takes approximately fifteen minutes. The Parish adds a crucifix and a small candle to the baskets at the time of Blessing. All are welcome.

Mass for Peace. The Medjugorje prayer group will have a mass for peace on Thursday 24 April at 8 p.m. in the Divine Masters, Newtownpark Ave.

The Parish Office will be closed from Thursday, 17 April, till 24 April.

The Pope's Intentions for April 2025 – FOR THE USE OF THE NEW TECHNOLOGIES

Let us pray that the use of the new technologies will not replace human relationships, will respect the dignity of the person, and will help us face the crises of our time.

Practice for Children's Stations of the Cross (Good Friday 12 noon) will take place in the main church on Holy Thursday 17th April at 2pm. All children are welcome to take part.
