Newsletter 18th/19th May, 2019
Fifth Sunday of Easter
This weekend, a new collection which will be called the Ministry Sunday Collection will be held.
This new annual collection will replace the Share Collection and will be devoted to support the building up of new forms of lay ministry for parishes.
The work of spreading the Gospel of Jesus in our changing religious culture will require more lay men and women working in various ways alongside priests in parishes.
The Ministry Sunday Collection is about ensuring that we will have the people we need - men and women who will be to the fore in making our parishes vibrant faith communities into the future.
While many volunteers will be involved, the diocese plans to equip and train leaders and provide facilities for formation. We want to work towards a situation where all parishes in this Archdiocese benefit from their gifts and expertise. The new collection is a step in that process.
We pray for the children who will receive the sacrament of FIRST HOLY COMMUNION in this Parish on Saturday 25th May @ 11.30 am and we pray for their families.
PARISH OFFICE will be closed Monday to Friday 20th to 24th May
To provide for the Diocesan Ministry Collection, the May collection for ST VINCENT de PAUL will be held at all the masses next week-end 25th /26th May. Please give as generously as you can

PEG - Birds and bees, literally
A recent high-level international study, drawing on several thousand research studies, has judged that threats to the biosphere, i.e. plants and animals, insects and other minute organisms, is now as big a danger to our world as is climate change.
What can we do about it?
Some simple steps for a start.
Stop using weed killers and insecticides.
Manage your garden to help pollinators such as bees.
Ask your local nursery to advise.
Don’t throw out organic waste but compost it instead.
Look up the internet for suggestions.
Join us in the Parish Environment Group.
We all need to do more.

New Pilgrim Path is a website aimed at introducing parishioners to the great wealth of Christian resources on the Internet. It was inspired by Pope Francis’ enthusiasm for the Internet as offering immense possibilities for encounter and solidarity. We provide links to, and a brief description of, a variety of websites. www.NewPilgrimPath.ie
